Comment About[New Year Food🎍]

No1. Tuyoshi Horikawa

He introduced the Japanese mochi. Through his speech, I learned that in the past, mochi was a luxury food that only rich people could eat. Nowadays, the Kanto region eats square mochi, while the Kansai region eats round mochi. Nowadays, glutinous rice cakes are also popular overseas, where they are eaten as sweets such as daifuku and dango skewers. However, because of the danger of choking on mochi, it is also known as a cereal killer overseas and must be eaten slowly.

No2. Fuka Inomoto

She introduced mochi. Glutinous rice cakes are made by pounding rice and rolling it into a ball, which has high energy value and makes you feel energetic when you eat it. There are many dishes that use mochi, such as oshiruko and ozoni. In Kumamoto, people use bonito, kombu (kelp), and squid to make soup stock, and add carrots, shiitake mushrooms, taro, chikuwa (bamboo shoot), and burdock root. It was also introduced that the mochi can be grilled and dipped in various sauces.

No3. Kyouka Unoki

She gave an introduction to ozoni all over Japan. In Iwate Prefecture, salmon roe is added to ozoni in addition to many vegetables, while in Kyoto, sweet ozoni with white miso is sometimes made. Nara Prefecture, next to Kyoto, is also famous for its sweet ozoni with yellow soybean flour. In Tottori Prefecture, a 0zoni similar to zenzai called "Azuki Zoni" is eaten, and in Hiroshima, a ozoni with oysters is famous. As you can see, each prefecture in Japan has its own unique ozoni.

No.4 Honoka Kohama

She introduced New Year's dishes from around the world. In Russia, there is a famous dish called perimeni, which is a kind of dumpling. In Korea, there is a famous dish called tteok, which is similar to Japanese zoni, but instead of mochi, Korean-style dumplings are often added. In Singapore, Yusheng is a salad with salmon on top, and in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Tau Meng, a colorful and good-looking dish, is eaten during the New Year.

No.5 Maharo Sugimoto

She introduced a ranking of popular dishes made with mochi: first, ozoni (stewed rice cake), second, savory isobeyaki (grilled rice cake), third, sweet and warm oshiruko (sweet red bean paste), fourth, baked mochi dipped in soy sauce, fifth, kinako mochi which tastes even better when served with kuromitsu, sixth, mitarashi mochi, seventh, karami mochi with grated daikon, eighth, anko mochi, ninth, natto mochi, tenth, and so on. No. 8 was anko mochi, No. 9 was natto mochi, and No. 10 was zundamochi.

No.6 Rina Matunaga

She introduced Japanese New Year dishes. Many people eat Osechi at New Year's, but Osechi always contains an odd number of dishes. Osechi always contains an odd number of dishes because in Onmyoudo, even numbers are said to be Yin numbers and odd numbers are Yang numbers. Also, outside of Japan, in Europe, England, and the U.S., people do not celebrate New Year's in a big way because of Christmas, but rather celebrate it during Chinese New Year.

No.7 Mami Harada

She introduced the New Year dishes of Amami Oshima. In Amami Oshima, they eat a dish called "Sangon" instead of Osechi. Sangon consists of three dishes, the first being Red Bowl. The first is the Red Bowl, which is a soup containing mochi, shrimp, fish paste, and white fish. The second is Fish, which consists of squid, shrimp, and white meat sashimi. The third is the Brack Bowl, which includes chicken and pork dishes.

No.8 Suzzue Ishikawa

She introduced Singapore's New Year's food. In Singapore, they eat nyenggao, which is a cupcake filled with rice balls. Another New Year's dish called Yusheng is a mixed dish of raw vegetables, sesame, salmon and other sashimi. Mandarin oranges are also eaten during the New Year, and are characterized by their richer aroma compared to oranges.

No.9 Rina Tatae

She introduced New Year's dishes from around the world and how to spend the New Year. In China, they prepare dumplings filled with colorful glutinous rice cakes and have a big celebration with many people. In Italy, they prepare mentius, which is similar to the Japanese Osechi. In the U.S., there is a culture of eating bean dishes on New Year's and hoping for a happy year.
